Whether you’re new to the Island, or have lived here for years, you’ll want to be downtown on Friday evening, July 3rd to kick off the Independence Day weekend with great hometown music, food, and fun at the 23nd Annual July 3rd Street Dance & BBQ. A fundraiser for the Bainbridge Island Downtown Association, the Street Dance & BBQ is the perfect opportunity to join your friends and family in supporting your community while enjoying a festive celebration downtown. Winslow Way will be closed from Ericksen to Madison starting at 3:00 pm for this annual community event.
All purchases for food, rides, and items at vendor booths must be paid for with tickets ($1 each). Tickets may be purchased at the event from roving ticket vendors or at the BIDA ticket booths. Separate tickets must be purchased for beer and wine at the entrance to the Winslow Oasis at Winslow Mall.
MUSIC & ENTERTAINMENT
The Intensely Vigorous Revolutionary Dixieland Band kicks off the event at 5:00 pm at the gazebo at Winslow Green.
Sponsored by Bainbridge Travel, the classic rock-and-roll band and returning favorite, The Original Fenderskirts, will headline at the Main Stage in front of American Marine Bank starting at 7:00 pm. At the Main Stage, also enjoy music by the Paul Meehan’s Youth Marimba Band.
The Kid Zone stage, near Eagle Harbor Book Co., will showcase some of the many talented groups in our community. Just fresh back from the National Competition, the Bainbridge Island Rope Skippers will be showcased. Enjoy live music from the The Lubricators and Get the Oxygen Tank!. Between acts, local deejay Brant Butte creates a vibrant dance mix that draws the largest crowd of hula-hooping youngsters on the entire Island. You won’t believe your eyes.
FOOD
Town and Country Market, our premier sponsor, will fire up the grill at 6:00 pm. Other local restaurants offering tasty options include BI BBQ, Casa Rojas Express, Cream of the Crop Ice Cream, Mirracole Morsels, and Clara’s Wok.
FUN
Come down early, stake out a chunk of sidewalk, and do a little street art with sidewalk chalk, courtesy of Calico Cat Toy Shoppe. Pick up chalk at one of the BIDA booths.
The popular selection of inflatable rides, including the Rat Race Obstacle Course and the Big Slide will be on hand.
At the BIDA Craft Booth, come get your groovy on and make a tye-died tee-shirt. Also enjoy face painting with KiDiMu and a dunk tank!
This year marks the third year the event has offered an opportunity to enjoy a glass of wine or frosty beer at the Winslow Oasis, located at the Winslow Mall. Tickets for beer and wine must be purchased at the entrance to the Winslow Oasis.
